#1-25 June, 1909 - Kennard Enterprise - Ella Ziegler

Kennard people were shocked Wednesday morning when the news came announcing the sudden death of Miss Ella Ziegler which occurred at her home near Arlington Tuesday night. At the time she passed away only her father and herself were at home, Ferd having gone to south Omaha with a load of cattle. In the night Mr. Ziegler, who sleeps downstairs, heard his daughter groaning and hurrying to her side found her very ill. He tried to telephone, but the phone was our of order. Hastily dressing himself, he went with all possible speed over to Joe Reeh’s and telephoned for the doctor. When he arrived home he discovered the poor girl had passed away. To the father and brother the Enterprise extends its profoundest sympathy.

#2- 30 June, 1909 - The Pilot - Ella Ziegler

This community was shocked to learn Wednesday morning that Miss Ella Ziegler, daughter of Geo. Ziegler, living about three miles east of town, had died very suddenly at her home about midnight of the night before. She had retired at the usual hour, and about 11 o’clock her father thought he heard someone groaning, and on learning it came from his daughter’s room, he hastened to her assistance at once when he discovered that she needed assistance. He at once notified his neighbor, H. J. Crapenhoft to send over assistance at once. On returning to his daughter’s room, Mr. Ziegler was horrified to learn that she had expired during his absence. The funeral was held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, and her remains were laid at rest alongside those of her mother, who died some years ago, in Arlington cemetery.

#3-1 July, 1909 - Blair Democrat - Ella Ziegler

The funeral of Miss Ella Ziegler, who died suddenly of heart disease Tuesday night, was held Thursday afternoon with services at the home east of town. Rev. Mr. Esplin of the Methodist church officiated. Interment took place in the Arlington cemetery after a short burial service beside the remains of her mother, who died ten years ago. Miss Ziegler was born on the farm east of Arlington July 16, 1888, living there all her life except two years spent in Virginia and two years at the state normal school at Peru, and for the past year she had been keeping house for her father and brother who alone are the sole survivors of the family. Her beautiful character had endeared her to an unusually large circle of friends, both here and at Kennard, and the funeral was one of the largest held in this section for many years, so universally loved and respected was this young woman who had given up her aspirations for a higher education to remain at home and care for her father’s household.
