#1-27 Jan., 1909 - The Pilot - Anna Steffen

Mrs. Anna Steffen died of old age at her home in this city Thursday night, and the funeral was held at the German Lutheran church at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. Eckhardt officiating. The church was filled to overflowing and a large number of friends followed the remains to their last resting place in the Blair cemetery. Deceased was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany Sept. 28th, 1826, and was therefore 82 years, 3 months and 22 days old. She came to Davenport, Ia. in 1856 where her husband, Adam Steffen, died. In 1858 she came to this county and took a homestead, where her son, Henry, now lives. Some twenty years ago she moved to this city into the house on west Colfax street in which she passed peacefully away last Thursday night. She leaves three sons, Henry and Charles of this county and Herman of Leadville, Colo., a brother and a sister in Iowa.

Mrs. Anna Steffen died at her home in this city last Thursday morning, and the remains were laid to rest last Sunday afternoon, the services being held at the German Lutheran church and conducted by Rev. Eckhardt. Deceased was born in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany September 28th, 1826, and came to this country in 1856, first stopping at Davenport, Iowa where she remained until 1858 when she came to Nebraska. Her husband, Adam Steffen, died in Davenport, Iowa in 1858. Deceased leaves three sons, Adolph, who lives ten miles south of Blair; Charles, living two miles east of Calhoun; and Herman, who lives in Leadville, Col. A brother and sister also survive her.
