#1-9 Oct., 1907 - The Pilot - Charles Siekkotter

Chas. Siekkotter died of lockjaw at his home near Millard, Neb. at 7 o’clock Monday evening. He was sowing fall wheat a week ago Sunday, and in adjusting a lever it flew back and hit him on the side of the face. It gave him little trouble until last Friday when symptoms of tetanus set in, death resulting Monday evening. The funeral will be held at two o’clock tomorrow. Mrs. Siekkotter is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Soren Jensen of this city, and has now had the misfortune to lose her second husband in less than five years. Her first husband, John Reeh, was killed by lightning while standing in the door of his barn. Besides the widow, Mr. Siekkotter leaves one daughter, Gladys, and three stepchildren.

DIES SUDDENLY

Word was received by the Soren Jensen family Tuesday morning of the sudden death from lockjaw of Chas. Siekkoetter of Millard, Nebraska.

Mr. Siekkoetter was a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Soren Jensen of this city having married Mrs. Mary Reeh about two and a half years ago. It seems that about a week before his death Mr. Siekkoetter had been putting up a barbed wire fence, and ran one of the barbs in his finger, and a day or two later had his cheek injured by being hit with a piece of machinery while doing some repairs on it.

The funeral will be held today, and as the train connections were very poor, the Reehs and Jensens were compelled to drive to Millard in carriages, going Wednesday. Deceased leaves a wife and four children, three of them being stepchildren.
