#1-28 Aug., 1907 - The Pilot - George B Service

George B. Service died at his home near Tekamah last Thursday the 22nd from an attack of appendicitis. He underwent an operation, but the disease was too far along and death was the inevitable result. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church in this city on Saturday at 11 o’clock, Rev. Rames officiating. The church was filled with sorrowing friends and relatives for he lived here several years. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Service, who likewise lived here, but have been making their home with George for some time. Besides his wife and one son, he leaves one brother, John of Omaha, and three sisters, Mrs. R. Crampton of North Yakima, Wash., Mrs. Chas. Romans of Tekamah and Mrs. Taylor Barnett of Omaha. He was 42 years of age, having been born in Decatur, Mich. on Oct. 7th, 1865.

GEORGE SERVICE DEAD

The announcement of the death of George Service, which occurred at Tekamah last Thursday, came as a surprise to his many friends here. He was taken with an acute attack of appendicitis and despite the best medical attendance obtainable, passed away last Thursday. The funeral was held in Blair last Saturday and the sermon preached by Rev. Rames of the Presbyterian church.

Deceased was born October 7th, 1865 at Decatur, Mich., and on the 2nd of May, 1903 was married to Mrs. Effie Wild, who with one little son survive him. Deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Service who made their home with him on a farm near Tekamah where they moved last spring. Three sisters and a brother are also left to mourn his death.

George Service was well known to everybody in this neighborhood and had many friends. He was an industrious young man and after retiring from the livery business in this city, farmed down near DeSoto until last spring when he moved to Burt county.
