MRS. PETE BADGEROW DEAD

The sad news of the death of Mrs. P. T. Badgerow reached Blair last Friday noon. About four weeks ago she was called to the home of her mother back at Toronto, Canada on account of sickness - her mother being then in a serious condition. Until Sunday the 16th she lingered, when death claimed her. Mrs. Badgerow then began her arrangements to return to Blair. On Thursday Mr. Badgerow received a message that she was very sick and to “come at once”. He immediately prepared to start, but when he reached Blair Friday noon, he received the second message announcing her death. No other particulars have been received, but it is supposed that death was the result of heart disease. The body, accompanied by her brother, left Toronto at 12:00 midnight Friday so we are informed by Dr. Langstaff, who is somewhat familiar with the trains out of Toronto. Mrs. Badgerow has a wide acquaintance in this county and is a woman dearly loved by all who knew her. Mr. and Mrs. Badgerow came to this county some seventeen years ago, and six years after they were married. Four children were born to them - Mrs. Chester Smith, Mrs. Gollebon, and the two girls at home - Misses Nellie and Fay. An adopted son, George, a boy of about twelve, is also at home. The body, accompanied by Mr. Badgerow and her brother, reached Blair this morning, and the funeral was held from the Presbyterian church at 2:30 the afternoon.

#2-26 Jun 3 1907 - Blair Courier - Elizabeth “Lillie” (Johnston) Badgerow

MRS. P. T. BADGEROW DIES SUDDENLY About four weeks ago Mrs. P. T. Badgerow was called up to Toronto, Canada on account of the illness of her mother, whose death occurred Sunday, the 16th. Mrs. Badgerow was preparing to return home and on Thursday she was taken violently ill and telegraphed Mr. B. to come at once. An abdominal artery that had been severed in an operation about two years previous broke and she lived but ten hours. Before Mr. B. got started he received the sad news of his wife’s death, and arrangement to meet the body in Chicago. He arrived here at 8 o’clock Monday morning, and the funeral was held at the Presbyterian church at 2:30 o’clock, Rev. R. M. L. Braden of Omaha officiating.

Miss Lillie Johnston was born in Scarboro, Canada Apr. 20, 1863, and was married to Mr. Badgerow in 1884. In March, 1890 they came to this county and have lived on the farm near the Cuming City school house ever since. Besides the grief-stricken husband, she leaves four daughters, Mrs. Chester Smith, Mrs. Isaac Gollehon and Misses Nellie and Fay Badgerow, who lived at home, and an adopted son, George. She also leaves two brothers and two sisters in Canada.

#3-27 June, 1907 - Blair Democrat - Mrs. Peter Badgerow On last Thursday Peter Badgerow received a telegram calling him to Canada on account of the serious illness of his wife, who had gone there several weeks ago on account of the illness of her mother, and who died a week ago Sunday. On Friday Mr. Badgerow received another telegram bringing the sad news of his wife’s death, and he left on the first train for Chicago where he met the remains and conveyed them to this city. The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the Presbyterian church. Deceased had been ailing with what was supposed to be heart trouble and jaundice for some time, and it was thought the trip to Canada would be a good thing for her, and Mr. Badgerow was in total ignorance of her coming death until he got word last Thursday. She was a woman of sterling qualities, was a kind wife and mother and was ever ready to do all she could for her children and husband, and in her death the community loses one whose place will never be filled. Deceased came to Nebraska with her husband about seventeen years ago and was the mother of four children who, besides the husband, are left to mourn her sudden departure. In their affliction the husband and family have the sympathy of the entire community.
