#1-20 May, 1907 - The Pilot - John Maher

The funeral of John Maher took place from the Catholic church Friday morning where a large number of friends paid their last respects to a departed friend. Mr. Maher has suffered from poor health for some time, but until about two months ago was able to be around. His many years of residence here gave him a wide acquaintance. His death occurred at his home Wednesday evening about nine o’clock. Mr. Maher was born July 11, 1862. The deceased leaves, besides his wife, two brothers, James and William, and three sisters, Mrs. R. H. Heaton, Mrs. J. K. Powers and Mrs. Fred Cunningham. The floral offerings were profuse. The family lived in a wide circle of warm friends, all of whom extend their sympathy to the bereaved wife.

After suffering for nearly three months with what the doctors called arterio sclerosis, death came to the relief of John Maher last Wednesday evening, and the funeral was held Friday morning at 10:30 o’clock from the Catholic church. Deceased was born in Cuming City July 11th, 1862, and in 1893 was married to Miss Ella Gouchenour of this city. The early life of Mr. Maher was spent in the store working for his father and later assisting his brother, James, in the same business. Several years ago he moved to Oklahoma and spent two years down there. Besides a wife, deceased leaves two brothers and three sisters to mourn his death The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery, and were followed to the last resting place by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends.
