Marie (Ollerman) Schroeder
Died on 11/2/1905

8 Nov., 1905 - Blair Courier - Mrs. August Schroeder

H. Ollerman received word Tuesday afternoon that his sister, Mrs. August Schroeder of Scribner, was fatally burned Monday evening and for him to come at once if he wished to see her alive. He went up Wednesday morning, but she was delirious and did not know him. She died Thursday morning and the funeral was held at the Congregational church at 1 o’clock Saturday. Mrs. Schroeder was heating a can of wax and turpentine to put on the kitchen floor and it got too hot catching fire. She took hold of the can with her apron and started to take it out doors, but it was too hot and she was compelled to drop it. The flames caught her skirts ad soon enveloped her entirely. Her body was frightfully burned, but death did not come to end her suffering until Thursday morning. Her husband died about two years ago but she leaves nine children, three married and six at home.
