Mrs. G. C. Smith died last Thursday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Caroline Parks, after an illness of several weeks’ duration. She lived with her husband at Lyons, but was brought down here about four weeks ago where her sister could better care for her. The funeral was conducted by Rev. A. E. Marsh from the Parks home at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, and being a former resident of this place, was laid to rest in the Blair cemetery. Miss Ruth Hendricks was born in Brook county, W.V. May 12th, 1843, and was married to Dr. G. C. Smith in Davenport, Ia. about 40 years ago. They came to Blair in an early day, and remained for a number of years, but had been living in Lyons for the past six years. Besides the husband she leaves two children, Mrs. E. H. Sanborn of Los Angeles, Cal. and Fred Smith of Avery, Neb. She also leaves four sisters, Mrs. B. H. Finch of Pender, Mrs. M. Trucks of Wisner, Mrs. S R. Trucks of Caldwell, Kan. and Mrs. Caroline Parks of this city.
