#1-6 Mar., 1905 - The Pilot - James Peter Jensen, Jr.

The death of little Jamie Jensen, the nine month old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Jensen, which occurred last Thursday, was a shock to the many friends of the family. While the child had been in a critical condition almost from the time it was taken sick, hope for its ultimate recovery was not abandoned until death had claimed its own. James Peter Jensen, Jr. was born on the 6th day of June, 1904, and until his last sickness had always been a bright, robust, healthy boy. He was taken ill on the 21st of February with a cold that developed rapidly into pneumonia and bronchial trouble, which defied care and medical attention and at two o’clock Thursday afternoon the sad news was given out that the child had succumbed to that dread disease, pneumonia. The funeral, in charge of J. I. Unruh, was held from the home at one o’clock Saturday afternoon, and was largely attended. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Jas. Huff, pastor of the All Saints church in Omaha, in which church Mrs. Jensen holds a membership. The music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Claridge and Mrs. C. O. Robinson. The floral offerings by friends and organizations were profuse, and to them all Mr. and Mrs. Jensen feel grateful, and especially to the Rebekahs, the Woodmen of the World and the Class of ’98. Mr. and Mrs. Jensen number their friends by their acquaintances and they all join The Pilot in extending their sympathy in the sad hour of bereavement, and it is here that we find language inadequate to convey feelings, for while words may cheer, they seem to echo back hollow and meaningless and we realize that the load which weighs heavy on the parental heart can only be made lighter by a faith that teaches that they will meet again this loved one where parting sorrows are unknown, a faith that teaches that death is a transition to conditions far better than the human mind can realize. We sorrow with them in their sorrow.
