#1-Published in the Blair Pilot 16 Mar 1921

Winifred Dorothy Wilds died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilds, in Fremont, Saturday noon and the funeral was held Monday at the Christian Church in Fremont. The body was brought to Kennard for burial. She was fourteen years of age last December and had been a sufferer from rheumatism practically all her life. Leakage of the heart was the immediate cause of death.

She was a patient and loveable daughter who had never really had a fair chance in life. She died not knowing of the death of her sister, Effie, Mrs. Ed Goldberg, which occurred two weeks previous.

Besides her parents she leaves two younger brothers, Burt and Frederick.

Among those who went over to attend the funeral were Mr. And Mrs. G. A. Rathmann and family, Miss Cora Stricklett, Mrs. Orin Stricklett, Jim Wilds, Mrs. Wm. Donner, Mrs. John Dulaney, Mr. And Mrs. Lou Peterson, and Grant and Scott Allen. Mrs. Elmer Wilds is a daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Wm. Swihart of Fremont and a sister of Mrs. Rathmann of this city.

#2-The Enterprise, Blair, Nebraska

The bereft of both daughters within short space of two weeks, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wild, former Blair people, now living in Fremont, has been called upon to give up their two daughters by the grim reaper death.

The Enterprise made mention of the death of the oldest daughter, Effie Goldberg, recently and the sad news that Winifred, age 15 years, has passed away after a severe siege of rheumatism of the heart. Her death occurred March 12th and funeral services held Monday March 14th, from the Christian Church in Fremont and burial was made in the Kennard Cemetery beside the new grave of her sister. The sorrowing parents and two small brothers who are left to mourn the loss their loved ones have the sympathy of the neighbors and friends.

FORMER RESIDENTS LOSE SECOND CHILD IN TWO WEEKS

Fremont Tribune: Winifred Wild, 14 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wild, died Saturday noon following a prolonged illness resulting from rheumatism. This is the second bereavement that Mr. and Mrs. Wild have suffered within the past two weeks, and their second loss brings them the sympathy of their many friends.

The deceased had been suffering the past few months from rheumatism which gradually worked toward the young girl’s heart. She had been failing for some time and when the mother hastened to Idaho to be at the bedside of an older daughter, the health of the daughter at home was in a serious condition. Mrs. Wild arrived at the sick bed of her daughter in Idaho to be with her at the end, which came a week ago last Wednesday.

Mrs. Wild returned to Fremont only to find the younger daughter on the verge of death and failing rapidly. The sorrowing parents recently buried the older daughter at the former family home in Kennard, and Monday the remains of the younger child were laid to rest at the side of her sister. This is one of the saddest instances of its kind to occur in this city, and the heartfelt sympathy and regrets of the many friends are extended to the saddened home.

Note: There is a discrepancy over the spelling of Wild(s). Elmer's stone in Kennard has Wilds on it. The obituaries of his brothers say Wild.

Note: There is no marker in the Kennard Cemetery. Since there is no space by her parents, we assume she is buried in her grandfather's lot which is Blk 3 Lot 32.
