A woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident Monday in southern Washington County.

Washington County sheriff's deputies and rescue personnel responded to the crash in the 3400 block of County Road just before 4 p.m.

The lone occupant of the vehicle — Christina Rodriguez, 41 — was ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sgt. Shane Thallas said the vehicle was traveling north when it left the road, hit a driveway culvert and rolled several times.

The accident remains under investigation, however, Thallas said it appeared the woman was not wearing a seat belt.

Christina Joy Rodriguez, 41, of Lincoln, NE, passed away October 5, 2020. Born September 19, 1979 to Steve Olson and Linda Texley. Christina is the mother of Sonia Cook and Elena Rodriguez and also had a son-in- law who she loved and treated like a son, Shelby Cook. She grew up with a sister, Carmen Sizer and had a best friend as close as a sister, April Robinson-Cortez. Christina was in love and engaged to, John Soby. She was talented and attended college at Hamilton/ Kaplan University. She had many jobs as a phlebotomist, working at the Arthritis Center, a home health aide, an outstanding teacher at Kaplan University, and the most loving and recent job was at Lincoln Family Medical, where patients and coworkers adored her. She was a great artist, singer, cook, and caregiver.

In her recent life, spent time taking care of animals on a farm that she shared with John. The animals included a camel, donkey, a couple ponies, a horse, a zebra mix with donkey, pigs, a cow, 3 dogs, and one of her favorites, a wolf! She worked hard as a medical professional and learned and worked hard as a farmer. She loved going on adventures such as plane rides, going to the lake, camping, and boat rides. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was a joy to be around and will be missed.

Family members include her children, Sonia (Rodriguez) and Shelby Cook, Lincoln, Elena Rodriguez, Lincoln; Parents, Steve and Bobbi Olson Palmyra, NE, Linda Texley and Gene Ernesti, Fremont, NE; Siblings, Carmen and Greg Sizer, Mark Robinson and Tammy Gross, Matt Robinson; Nephews Gideon, Micah, Isaac and Ezekiel; fiancé John Soby, Ft. Calhoun, NE; Grandfather, Ted Olson; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceded in death by grandparents, Lloyd and Beverly Texley, Fran Olson and Kathy Olson.

Memorial service to be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee, Lincoln, NE, 68516.
