George Matteson died Sunday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Hoosack in Ft. Calhoun, and the remains were brought here yesterday for interment beside his wife who died about three years ago. Mr. Matteson was a resident of this city for many years, and had served the city both as councilman and as one of the county supervisors. He was born in New York state in 1841 and served in Co. E 7th Ia. practically all through the Civil War. He came to this state in 1867. Four sons and four daughters survive him.
