Mrs. Mary H. Cornell died at her home in this city at 6 p.m. last Saturday after a short illness of only two weeks. The funeral was held at the Methodist church at 1 o’clock on Monday, Rev. E. H. Hinkle officiating. Interment was made in the Herman cemetery. Mary H. Holmes was born in Marlborough, Duchess county, N.Y. Dec. 6th, 1833 and was married to Lyman Cornell Feb. 22nd, 1856. They came to Herman in May, 1876 and were among the very earliest settlers in these parts, long before Herman was. She is survived by one son, Wm. of this city and three sisters and one brother in New York.
