Died — Emma J., wife of C. E. Short, at Portland, Oregon May 18, 1907. Deceased was born at Cuming City, Neb. Feb. 27, 1869. Was a graduate of Blair High school and taught several terms of school in Washington Co. She was married in Salem, Ore. July 3, 1890 and leaves to mourn her loss a devoted husband and three children, a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Kirby, formerly of Blair, now at Salem, Ore., two sisters, Mrs. Mary A. Arnold and Mrs. U. S. Beattie of Portland and one brother, Dr. E. G. Kirby of Elgin, Oregon.

From Find a Grave #129258753: MRS. EMMA SHORT'S FUNERAL. The funeral of Mrs. Emma Short was held yesterday afternoon from the Piedmont Presbyterian Church. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery. Mrs. Short, who was 39 years of age, had been a resident of Piedmont for several years. She leaves her husband, Charles E. Short, three children, Grace, aged 16 years, Merle, aged 13, and Helen, 5 years. She has two sisters living in Portland, and a brother in Elgin, Or. Her parents also live in Portland.
