Buried in Blair Cemetery

20 June, 1901 - Blair Courier - Ben Sheffield

Ben Sheffield died early Saturday morning at St. Joseph’s hospital in Omaha from the effects of an operation for appendicitis performed on Sunday, almost a week before. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon in the Methodist church, Rev. Vallow officiating. The Modern Woodmen went to the church in a body and conducted the burial service at the cemetery. Rev. Vallow’s remarks along fraternal lines were especially pleasing to the Woodmen and as one of them said, “Nothing is too good for that man”. Mr. Sheffield was a Virginian by birth, coming to this state about fifteen years ago and settling on a farm four miles south of town. He was counted an excellent good neighbor as was testified by the large number who attended the funeral. He left a wife, but no children. He carried $2,000 in the M.W.A. and $1,000 in the North ? Ins. Co.
