#1-16 May, 1901 - Blair Courier - Lucille Baxter

Word was received here yesterday of the death of Miss Lucille Baxter at Los Angeles, Cal., where she went with her sister, Mrs. J. W. Wulff, some months ago for her health. The immediate cause of her death was an operation for goiter from which she had been suffering for a long time. The body will arrive here next Sunday for burial. Miss Lucille is a daughter of J. E. Baxter, and grew to womanhood here. She was engaged to a young man employed in the U.P. freight offices in Omaha, and their marriage had been postponed on account of her illness.

#2-16 May, 1901 - The Pilot - Lucille Baxter

The many friends of Miss Lucille Baxter in this city were shocked and grieved to hear of her death in California the first of the week where she went for her health about three weeks ago. Miss Baxter has been a great sufferer from throat trouble for some time, and had undergone operations, but they proved of no avail. Finally she was persuaded to try the climate of California and was not yet acclimated when she grew suddenly worse and death claimed her. The body will be shipped to Blair, and the funeral will probably be held Sunday. We have not learned whether her sister, Mrs. J. W. Wulff, will return with the body or not.

#3-23 May, 1901 - The Pilot - Lucille Baxter

The funeral of Miss Lucille Baxter, who died in California last week, took place from the Presbyterian church in this city last Monday afternoon, Rev. Wilson of Tekamah, assisted by Rev. Vincent of this city, having charge of the services. The floral offerings sent by sympathizing friends were among the finest that were ever brought to Blair. Lillies and roses in profusion literally covered the casket and presented an aspect that will not soon be forgotten by those present. The death of Miss Baxter is particularly sad from the fact that she was to have been married in a few weeks to a most estimable young man in Omaha, the wedding having been postponed until after the trip to California where she went for her health. The young man was present at the funeral and seemed bowed down with grief. The funeral was largely attended by friends of the family.
