#1-25 Feb., 1901 - The Pilot - Catherine (Coates) Kehoe

The death of Mrs. James Kehoe occurred last Saturday morning at 2:30 o’clock. Catherine Coates was born in Wicklow county, Ireland in 1819. Her parents were highly respected people and were intimate neighbors with the family of the late Hon. M. P. Chas. Stewart Parnell. With a consumptive sister she came to America about the year 1852 and in 1862 she married her now aged, afflicted and bereaved husband, James Kehoe. Her parents were members of the Church of England in which she was reared and confirmed. Soon after arriving in America, she united with the M.E. church in whose fellowship she lived a devoted Christian life. As indicative of the care which her early religious training was attended to, at the age of 14 years, for standing at the head of her Sunday school class in the number of scripture verses memorized, she was presented with a Bible which she has always kept and which was used yesterday at her funeral. Grandma Kehoe, as everyone called her, was a character one will not soon forget; her goodness and saintliness was always apparent. Although she has been an invalid for years, she has enjoyed the friendship of many, many friends, and during her last illness she was tenderly cared for by kind friends and neighbors. The funeral took place yesterday from the M.E. church, Rev. Vallow officiating. She leaves, besides her husband, two adopted sons and hosts of friends to mourn for her.

#2-28 Feb., 1901 - Blair Courier - Catharine Kehoe

Mrs. Catharine Kehoe (nee Coates) was born in Wicklow Co., Ireland in the year 1819, and died in Blair, Neb. February 22, 1901, aged about 82 years. Her parents were highly respected people and intimately acquainted with the family of the late Hon. Charles Stewart Parnell, M.P. With an invalid sister she came to America in 1852. In 1862 she married her now aged, afflicted, and bereaved companion, James Kehoe. As indicative of the care with which her early religious training was attended to, it is interesting to note that when 14 years of age, for standing at the head of her class for the number of scripture verses committed, she was presented with the Bible from which, on the occasion of her funeral, the lesson was read. Though reared and confirmed in the Church of England, she united with the M.E. church soon after coming to America, and lived an exemplary Christian life until her death. Though gone from us to her final reward, her saintly face will long abide in the memory of those who have been blessed by her life.
