Clara Jaspersen, a long-time Washington County resident, passed away at the Blair memorial Hospital on Wednesday, June 6, at the age of 92 years and seven months. Clara lived in her own home until she entered the hospital on June 1. Services were held on Saturday, June 9, at 10:30 a.m. at First Methodist Church in Blair with Rev. Gordon Patterson officiating. Bette Kirk was the organist and Clare Cowing the soloist.

Pallbearers were Jack Lorsch, John Henton, John Jacobson, Jerry Jaspersen, Reinold Munderloh, and Rolland Long. Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Blair Cemetery.

Clara was born November 21, 1891 at Orum. Her parents were Andrew and Anne Hansen. She attended Orum grade school and later when her folks moved to a farm on the Nelson Hill road she attended Blair High School. She also attended the Keister Sewing School in Blair and then was employed in homes in the community doing sewing for the families.

Clara was married to Lars Jaspersen on February 11, 1914. They lived on the place south east of Blair that Nels Jaspersen had homesteaded. They farmed here until 1943 when they moved to Tekamah and later to Oakland, Nebraska. After Lars' accidental death in 1947 Clara decided to move back to Blair. In 1949 she had a house built at 2004 Colfax Street where she has resided since.

Her most enjoyment was her family and through the years she was very interested in 4-H work, exhibiting at fairs, playing cards, sewing and crafts. She made many quilts, rugs and afghans and in her later years even did oil painting.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two infant sisters.

Surviving her are two sons and their wives, Avery and Dorothy Jaspersen and Lyle and Carol Jaspersen, all of West Point, Nebraska and a daughter and her husband, Bud and Irene Lorsch of Kennard, Nebraska.

Grandchildren surviving her are: JoAnn Matthews of Kansas City, Missouri; Judy Robertson of Columbus, Nebraska; Jean Jaspersen of Ulm, West Germany; Jerry Jaspersen of Oakland, Nebraska; Donna Henton of Blair, Nebraska; Jack Lorsch of Kennard, Nebraska; Kathie Munderloh of Bancroft, Nebraska; Susan Jacobson of Annapolis, Maryland; Nancy Rochlitz of Paxton, Nebraska.

Great-grandchildren surviving are: Nicole, Becky and Jason Lorsch; Denise and John Henton; William and Elizabeth Jacobson; Erin and Jarrod Jaspersen; Laura Rochlitz; Anne, Jeff and Sara Robertson and Lisa and Todd Matthews. A brother Lester Hansen of Blair also survives and several nieces and nephews and friends.
