Mr. Levi O. Stevens died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. B. Adams, Wednesday morning, Sept. 16th, where he has resided since May, 1902. He was born at East Hardwick, Vt. June 7, 1819. He was graduated from the University of Vermont in 1844. After teaching in New England for several years, he came west in 1853 and was married Sept. 15 of the same year to Janette Lease at Rock Island, Ill. After teaching school in Dubuque, he moved to a farm in Delaware county and lived there till he retired to Grinnell, Iowa where he lived six years previous to his removal to Blair. He is survived by his wife, four sons and two daughters, Mrs. E. B. Kenyon of Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. J. B. Adams of Blair; Joseph H. Stevens of Stockton, Kas.; Chas. O. Stevens of Washington, D.C.; Thaddeus T. Stevens of Creston, Neb.; and Philip H. Stevens of Lansing, Mich. A short funeral service will be held at the house, probably on Friday at 1:30 p.m., and the body will be taken to Earlville, Ia., his old home, for interment in the family burying ground.
