It is with considerable regret that we chronicle the death of one of our pioneer residents, Mrs. Christina Brammer, wife of the late Henry Schumacher, which occurred at 10 p.m. March 27. The deceased was born at Jamestead, Schleswig Holstein, Germany in 1849. She came to this country in 1870 and married Henry Schumacher the same year. Six children were born to them, four boys and two girls of whom but two boys are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother. Mr. Schumacher died in May in 1898 from an unsuccessful operation for appendicitis. The family were highly respected by all who knew them and the following at the funeral of Mrs. Schumacher Monday gave evidence in a measure of that fact, fully a hundred teams in line. The funeral services were held at the home about two miles south of Kennard, and the remains laid to rest in the Blair cemetery beside the husband and children. Mrs. Schumacher was a good neighbor, always ready and willing to assist the needy and her untimely death is the cause of sincere regret by all who knew her and all join the Pilot in extending sympathy to the remaining members of the family in their sad bereavement.
