On Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020 Ellen A Murphy passed away at the age of 100 at Crowell Memorial Home. Ellen was born on September 23rd, 1920, in Denison, Iowa to Charles and Nellie Christie.

Ellen married Hugh Fryrear in 1939 and then was widowed upon his death in 1953. She remarried Joseph Murphy in 1955 and was married to him until his death in 1971.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Frank, Herb, Ted, and Harry Christie (which she was happy to say she beat all of them by living the longest), her son Larry Fryrear, and her daughters Kathleen Hansen and Juanita Stoffers. She is survived by her daughter Suellen Mastin and her sons Joe (Cindy) Murphy and Robert Murphy, her son in law Bob Stoffers, her grandchildren Shannon (David) Adkins, Lane (Suzanne) Mastin, Christine (Gary) Stall, Nicole (Stephen) Murphy-Colborn as well as other grandchildren, great grandchildren like Tasha (Evan) Buresh and Jami (Nehemiah) Sunde as well as others, and numerous great-great grandchildren.

Ellen had a sharp wit and wicked sense of humor. She was independent, living on her own until a month after she turned 100. She was strong and strong willed, always told it like it is, loving and loved. Throughout her extraordinary life her brown eyes never lost their sparkle. She was the center of a goofy, loving, fun family and will be deeply missed.
