16 Mar., 1903 - The Pilot - Gotleib Jacobs

The death of Gotleib Jacobs of Arlington which occurred in the Fremont hospital Sunday the 8th came as a surprise and a shock to his many friends who were looking only for his speedy recovery. He was operated on for appendicitis and all reports on his condition were of the most favorable nature, but the disease was too deep-seated, and although robust in health a few weeks ago, he succumbed to its fearful grip. The remains were brought home and laid to rest in the Arlington cemetery, the services being conducted by Rev. Hilgendorf and attended by one of the largest assemblages of sorrowing friends and neighbors ever known in the history of the locality. The deceased was the youngest of the family, and four sisters and two brothers, besides his parents, are left to mourn his loss. He was twenty one years old last January, and was to have been married this spring to Miss Amelia Gnuse. His death was to the family and immediate friends a severe shock and in their bereavement they have the sympathies of a large number of sorrowing friends.
