John M. Van Huss was born August 3, 1820, and was converted and joined the Evangelical Lutheran church in Virginia at an early age and up to his death had been a member ever since. A number of years ago he was married to Sarah Rosenbaum and there were born to them six children, all living except Christopher and James, who have gone on before. In 1883, with his family, he moved to Nebraska where he has since resided. He died Friday, Jan. 23, 1903, aged 73 years, 5 months and 20 days. The funeral was held at the home of the deceased Sunday, January 25th, all the surviving children being present and also many relatives and a host of sympathizing friends followed the remains to the Kennard cemetery. The deceased was one of those rare old school gentlemen and was loved by all who knew him.
