#1-18 Sept., 1902 - The Pilot - Mrs. John A. Close

Mrs. John A. Close, aged 78 years, died at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Sept. 7th at the home of her daughter Mrs. McKennan. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Fetter in the M.E. church on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment in the Arlington cemetery. Besides her husband, she leaves three daughters, Mrs. P. D. Denny of Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. C. E. Crist and Mrs. Charles McKennan of Arlington, and one son, Henry Close, who lives on a farm south of Arlington. Two sons and two daughters have preceded her to that vast beyond. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth McCoy of Arlington, and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss.

#2-September 12, 1902- Arlington Herald- Nancy (Lane) Close

Mrs. Nancy (Lane) Close was born in Brown County, Ohio April 1, 1824, and died in Arlington, Neb. At the residence of her daughter Mrs. McKennan, Sept. 7, 1902, bringing her age to 78 years, 5 months and 6 days.

She was married April 1, 1842, to J.A. Close. They moved to Lafayette County, Wis. In 1852, where they resided one and one half years, then to Crawford County Wis. In 1867 they moved to Dodge County, Neb. three and one half miles southwest of Arlington. There was born to them three sons and five daughters, four of whom are still living: Henry Close of Arlington, Mrs. P.D. Denney of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. C.E. Crist and Mrs. Charles McKennan of Arlington, besides a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth McCoy, also living at this place.

Mrs. Close has ever lived a consistent Christian, to which all who have known her can testify. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. Fetzer at the M.E. Church. Her remains were laid to rest in the Arlington cemetery, there to await the final call on the resurrection morn.
