Charles Nelson Matteson was born at Hartford, Cortland county, New York July 4, 1852, and died at Houston, Custer county, Idaho Oct. 12, 1901 of typhoid fever after an illness of about three weeks. He came to Nebraska in 1867, accompanied by his parents who located near Blair. The deceased was married to Belle, daughter of Charles H. Burdick Dec. 26, 1879, and leaves three children, Arthur, Clarence and Ella to mourn their loss. A large circle of friends and relatives sympathize with the bereaved children.

Note: His father is Horatio Norton Matteson and his mother is Abigail Eliza Butler Matteson and they are buried in the Blair Nebraska Cemetery.
