12 Sept., 1901 - The Pilot - J. Wesley Tucker - Civil War Veteran

The report comes from Valentine, Nebraska of the death of J. Wesley Tucker, better known as Colonel Tucker. He has been suffering from Bright’s disease and dropsy, and these complications resulted in his death Tuesday. Mr. Tucker was seventy years old and leaves a wife and five children. He formerly lived in Washington county and was considered a successful attorney. At one time he was elected county judge and served a part of one term, resigning to take up the law business in Valentine where he as since lived. The judge was a pioneer Nebraskan and well liked by all who knew him. He was a veteran of the Civil War, enlisting from the State of Indiana and was a lieutenant-colonel, and late years has been prominent in Grand Army work.
