Melissa (Hungate) Dickinson
Died on 2/14/1901

14 Feb., 1901 - The Pilot - Mrs. A. F. Dickerson or Dickinson

The funeral services of Mrs. A. F. Dickerson were held at the Baptist church Thursday at ten, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Edward M. Jeffers. Mrs. Dickerson has been a great sufferer for fifteen months, and during all this time has shown wondrous patience and faith. The family came from Norfolk to Chadron nine years ago last September, and have been permanently located here for these years as Mr. Dickerson is an engineer on the F.E. & M.V. Mrs. Dickerson was a native of Indiana, but at an early age went with her parents to Danville, Ill. While living there she gave herself to Christ and was baptized into the fellowship of the Baptist church of that place. A number of years later she moved to Blair, Nebraska, and it was at this place she was married to Mr. Dickerson. When the family came here she united with the Baptist church by letter from Norfolk. Besides her husband, she leaves behind to mourn her loss three daughters and one son. Two daughters are married, one living in Chicago and the other in Lead City, while the son and youngest daughter are still at home. A large company of sympathetic friends and neighbors gathered at the church for the last sad rites. The message of the pastor was based on the scripture verse, “I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course; I have kept the faith”. Chadron Journal
