21 Jan., 1901 - The Pilot - Fred Heybrock

Fred Heybrock died Saturday morning at 5:15 o’clock at his late residence about four miles northwest of Arlington. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Hilgendorf last Tuesday afternoon at the house at one o’clock and at the church at two o’clock. Interment in the church cemetery. John Frederick Heybrock was born in Germany April 20, 1823. At the age of fourteen he was confirmed in the German Evangelical Lutheran church, to which faith he has ever remained steadfast and faithful. In 1854 he came to this country, settling in St. Louis, Mo. and moved to Quincy, Ill. in 1856, and in company with Messrs. Loosing, Sprick, Stork and others, he came to Nebraska in 1864, settling on track of land which is now known as the Thompson farm; he shortly afterwards purchased the farm on which he lived up the time of his death. In 1865 he married Miss Reake Meyer of Quincy, Ill. Eight children were born to them, seven of whom survive him, five sons, John, William, Gottlieb, Henry and Gust, and two daughters, Mary and Amelia. About eight months ago Mr. Heybrock’s health began to fail and heart and kidney trouble set in which caused his death. In the death of Mr. Heybrock the children lose a kind and loving father, the church an earnest and conscientious worker and Washington county one of her oldest and most respected citizens. - Arlington Review.
