#2-August 26, 1909- Arlington Review Herald- Otis M. Dye

On Thursday, Aug. 18, 1909, Otis M. Dye passed from this life at the home of his brother-in-law, W.D. Badger, after a lingering illness, aged 65 years, 7 months and 17 days. The funeral was held from the residence on Saturday at 2 p.m., interment in Arlington cemetery, Rev, G.N, Conffer of Valley officiating.

Otis M. Dye was born in Seneca Falls, N.Y. Dec. 31, 1848. Later in life he moved to Michigan. January 6, 1866 he was married to Alida M. Mead, soon after moving with his bride to Kansas, where he engaged in the wholesale grocery business in which industry he was very successful. In 1889 he was stricken with blindness, an affliction from which he never recovered. For the past few years he, with his wife, made their home in Arlington, where he lived a quiet and retired life. He is survived by his wife, two brothers and one sister.

That the deceased was held in high esteem by our people, was shown when every business house closed during the funeral hour on Saturday, this small token of respect being as little as our citizens could show him whom the joy of living in the light of God’s sunshine had been denied him for so many years.
