1 Nov., 1894 - The Pilot - Lorenzo Dow "L. D." Cameron

The Pilot made brief reference last week to the death of L. D. Cameron of Grant township. Mr. Cameron was 77 years of age and was born in Canada from which he came to Illinois in 1860, and five years later with his family, settled at Cuming City in this county where he kept the only hotel for some years. He leaves two sons, Mac and Cara, and two married daughters, one living at York and one at Beatrice, this state. His wife and the mother of his children died in 1885, and the shock of her death, together with his declining years, has left him in feeble health for some years past. He had been a lifelong member of the M.E. church, and was an active member in church circles. His death occurred on Monday, Oct. 29, and the funeral was held at the home of his son, Cara, on the old homestead on York creek Wednesday following. Rev. John Patrick officiated and many friends and neighbors attended.
