10 Mar., 1909 - The Pilot - Jens G. "Grandpa" Jensen

A sudden gloom fell in this vicinity early Saturday morning when the news spread that Grandpa Jensen had passed away. A more respected and beloved old man was not known. Few grandpas could claim as much love and care from their many relations as he could. Our sympathy is with the sorrowing ones who will see the vacant place at the table or the empty warm chair and think of him who will never more occupy them. Mr. Jensen was born in Denmark Feb. 7, 1827. Spent 3 years in the war between Denmark and Germany. In 1890 he came to America with his children, and has made his home with them since. In 1901 his wife died, since her death he has made his home with his son, N. G. Jensen. Mr. Jensen has been quite strong for his 82 years until the sharp attack of pneumonia quickly claimed its victim. Deceased leaves six children, one daughter, Mrs. Jespersen, and five sons, all who were present at the funeral. He also left many grandchildren who loved their grandpa dearly and will miss him very much. A short funeral service was held at the house by Rev. Anderson of Blair, and another at the Danish church in Blair before the body was laid lovingly in its final resting place.
