LOLA JENS, 87

Lola Jens 87, of Fremont, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Birchwood Manor in North Bend.

Services were Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial was in the Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Lola Jens was born Feb. 25, 1912, to Chester and Jennie (Lindblade) Wellman in Omaha.

She grew up in Fremont and lived there until moving to North Bend in 1949. She returned to Fremont in 1952 and had been residing at Birchwood Manor in North Bend for the last 4 1/2 years.

In May 1928, she married Tom Jens in Fremont.

During World War II and the Korean War, she worked at the Nebraska Ordnance Plant in Mead and was also employed at the former Rank's Store in Fremont for several years.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Fremont.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Jr. and Donna Jens of Kernville, Calif.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Don Smith of Lincoln; Shirley Stamp of DeSoto; and Sharon "Kay" and Robert Stork of Arlington; sister, Darlene Valine of Daly City, Calif.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wellman of Eagle Grove, Iowa; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom; and two brothers, Edward and Frank Wellman.

Memorials are suggested to Birchwood Manor in North Bend or First Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
