The death of Thomas F. Barry, which appeared in the World Herald last week, was a brother of M. J. Barry of Blair. The deceased was born in Dundas, Canada August 1, 1851. He came to Omaha in the spring of ’56, and grew to manhood here in Washington county. He became a railroad engineer at the age of twenty six years. He worked up to the time of his death, which occurred at his home at 2012 North 21st street, Omaha Friday morning at 3:30 in the presence of his wife and daughter. He retired about 11 o’clock Thursday evening, after returning home from a church entertainment in which one of his children took part. He was apparently well, but was not feeling as well as usual. The funeral was from the Sacred Heart church Sunday, June 28, at 3 p.m. His son was not killed in the Allen Bros. fire in the winter of 1903 as stated in the Herald. He died at St. Joseph’s hospital August 12, 1903 after an illness of several days with ear trouble. The Herald also stated that Henry Dietle, a brother of Mrs. Barry was killed in the Omaha Casket company disaster in the spring of 1905. Mr. Dietle was in no way related to Mrs. Barry.
