DEATH OF MRS. W. J. CRANE

Mrs. Mary A. Crane, wife of our townsman, W. J. Crane, died Wednesday morning of this week at 10 o’clock. Mrs. Crane had not been in good health for some months, but she did not take to her bed until the evening before her death, and then her condition was not considered dangerous by her friends. She had been a victim of asthma for some years and of late her kidneys had been troubling her. Tuesday morning she commenced to show alarming symptoms and Dr. Davies was called in, but there was nothing that human effort could do to prolong her life, and she passed away at 10 o’clock Wednesday with her husband and son present. In addition to leaving behind the members of her immediate family, two brothers survive her, Dr. P. D. Harding of Evanston, Ill. and Darius Harding, who lives near Rochester, N.Y.

Mrs. Mary A. Harding Crane was born in Sullivan, Tioga county, N.Y. May 20, 1832, and was therefore at the time of her death 74 years and six months old. She was a consistent member of a church from her early childhood, and was one of the leaders in the organization of the Arlington Congregational church of which she has been a member since its organization, the first business meeting being held at the Crane home.

On Dec. 28, 1865 she was married to W. J. Crane at Oswego, N.Y., and in 1871 moved with her husband to Nebraska. Soon after arriving in this state they settled in Arlington and have resided here continuously ever since. Mrs. Crane was a woman of broad mind and generous impulses and was greatly beloved by all who knew her.

The funeral will take place at 1:30 pm. Sunday from the Congregational church. Interment at Arlington cemetery.
