15 Aug., 1906 - The Pilot - Mrs. Steve Davis

We learn from John Patrick that Mrs. Steve Davis is dead. A few days ago she went home with her brother-in-law, Dr. McConnaha, where she expected to be treated for gall stones. The case was not looked upon as serious, but took a serious turn. The family was telegraphed for, but before they arrived she was dead. The body will probably reach Herman tomorrow (Thursday) and the funeral will be held probably from the New England church. Those who desire to attend the services will be able to get particulars Thursday morning over the telephone. Later - As we go to press we learn that the funeral will be held Friday at 11 o’clock from the church.

20 Aug., 1906 - The Pilot - Mrs. Steve Davis

The funeral of Mrs. Steve Davis was held at the New England church last Friday where a large number of her old friends paid their last respects. The services were in charge of Rev. John Patrick. Mrs. Davis was born in Ohio in 1847 and the following year moved to Iowa with her parents, and shortly after came to Nebraska where she has since lived. She was married to Mr. Davis in 1862 and nine children have blessed that union - four of them, two boys and two girls, still living. She was a kind mother and a good neighbor and will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends. In their sad bereavement The Pilot joins with the many friends of this family in extending sympathy.
