CHRESTEN JENSEN

Chresten Jensen, born in Denmark Feb. 14, 1824, came to America in 1892 and died in Atlantic, Iowa June 22, 1908, and was buried at Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska June 27. He had been sick for some time and his son, Martin, who lives near here, attended him in his last moments and brought his body here. He leaves two sons in Nebraska - Martin of the Ft. Calhoun post office and J. S. Christensen of Kindred and eight grandchildren and four orphan grandchildren back in the homeland. Owing to a peculiar custom in that land, the baptismal names are different from those of the father. He had been, all his life, a devoted member of the Lutheran church. Rev. Hilkeman of the Presbyterian church officiated, with Miss Hillman at the organ. The church was nearly filled and a long line of carriages followed the remains to the cemetery, and the two sons desire to thank each and everyone who so kindly remembered them in there deep sorrow. W. H. Woods.
