Hans Peter Nelsen, who lived a mile northeast of Spiker, dropped dead at about 7:30 Wednesday evening while working in his garden, and was not found until the next morning. The funeral was held from the German Lutheran church on Friday. Mr. Nelson was born in March, 1834. He came to America in 1870, settling in Washington county. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and two daughters - one living in Denmark and the other in Omaha.
