The numerous friends of E. B. Fredericks, one of the best known and most highly respected residents of Grand Forks, were very much surprised and deeply grieved on Wednesday night to learn of his death, which occurred at Houston, Tex. at 4 o’clock Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Fredericks had been troubled with kidney troubles for the past two or three years, and this, followed by a general breakdown, is given as the cause of his death. However, when he left for Texas some two months ago, he seemed to feel exceptionally well, and remarked that he believed he was good for ten years yet. Deceased was born in Hellbrum, Germany October 21, 1839, and was almost 71 years of age. He came to America when a young man, and for many years resided at Blair, Neb., from which place he came to Grand Forks about thirty years ago. He was engaged in the clothing business here for a long time, and later devoted his time and capital to the real estate business in which he was very successful. He had extensive holding in various parts of the country, and was looking after his interests in Texas when death overtook him. His wife and two children survive him. Mrs. M. Stanchfield of this city is a daughter, and his son, William, is now ill at Mineral Wells, Tx. Mrs. Stanchfield today received a message to the effect that her brother would be unable to attend the funeral on account of his condition. Mrs. Stanchfield is awaiting a message from her mother which will state the time of departure for this city, and she expects the body will arrive here Saturday night or Sunday morning. The funeral services will be held at the Stanchfield home, but the date cannot yet be arranged - Evening times. Grand Forks, N.D.
