FARMER KILLED IN WELL BY A FALLING BRICK

Struck by a falling brick that fell a distance of 40 feet, resulting in a fractured skull last Saturday, William G. Gnuse, aged about 45, a farmer living about two miles west of Orum, died Monday evening at the Nicholas Senn hospital in Omaha.

The unfortunate victim was working in a 50 foot well at his farm just west of the Bisbee school. The well is walled with brick and while Mr. Gnuse was at the bottom a loose brick about 10 feet from the top fell from its place striking him on the head. The skull was fractured as a result of the blow.

When he was brought out of the well and physician called, it was found necessary to rush the patient to the hospital for an immediate operation. The unfortunate man lingered until Monday evening when he expired as a result of his injuries.

The deceased is survived by his wife, six children, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Gnuse of Fremont, and a brother, John F. Gnuse, superintendent of the Lutheran Orphanage at Fremont.
