EARL BURBANK, 81

Funeral services for Earl E. Burbank, 81, of Fremont were held March 9, 1988 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Thomas E. Robson of the First Presbyterian Church in Tekamah officiated.

Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Masonic graveside services were conducted by members of the Tekamah Masonic Lodge 31.

Pallbearers were John W. Hansen, Charles “Chip” Vrana, Michael Herring, Murriel Scott, Clarence Scott, Marvin Scott and K. Steven Violett.

He died March 6, 1988 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County, Fremont.

He was born August 28, 1906 in Cedar Bluffs and grew up in Fremont.

In 1931 he moved to Blair, and three years later moved to Tekamah where he operated the Clover Leaf Grocery Store for a few years.

He then became manager of Council Oak Grocery Store until 1952 when he moved to Omaha. There he operated a Zesto Ice Cream shop.

In 1965 he retired and travelled before settling in Florida. Earl returned to Fremont in 1987.

On August 31, 1931 he married Marian Hansen of Blair at Dundee Presbyterian church in Omaha. She survives.

Earl was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tekamah, where he had been a church trustee and church elder.

He was also a member of the Fremont Eagles for 53 years; a member of the Tekamah Masonic Lodge 31 A.F. and A.M. where he was a past Worshipful Master; a Mason for 54 years; a member of the Scottish Rite of Omaha, a member of the Tekamah Lions Club for many years.

Survivors include his wife Marian, and sister Opal Stoffer of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Minnie (Scott) Burbank and two brothers, Dewey and Jess.

Memorial may be given to the American Heart Association.
