The news of the death of August F. Schumacher will be received with regret by his many friends in Washington County. Something like a year ago he underwent an operation, but was not completely relieved. Two weeks ago he went back to the St. Joseph hospital and was again operated on. Until last Tuesday he got along in good shape, and every promise was for a complete recovery. Then he suffered a relapse and died on Wednesday morning. The funeral services conducted by the German Lutheran minister of Bennington were held at the house of his son-in-law, George Kahnk, last Friday morning at 10:30; the burial took place at the Blair cemetery. Mr. Schumacher has lived in Washington County thirty two years and was 81 years old last January. He leaves a large circle of friends and relatives who will miss him, but they all have the consolation of knowing that few lives accomplish more.
