On Wednesday, March 24, 2021, Robert “Bob” G. Fuhrman of Paola, Kan., passed away at age 70 surrounded by friends and family. Bob was born on Dec. 16, 1950, in Omaha to Herman and Lavena Fuhrman. After graduating from Fort Calhoun High School, he enlisted in the Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. Following the war, he married and had twin girls, Erika and Cassie. He spent most of his career in the plumbing industry installing and repairing water softeners. In his later years, he enjoyed gardening, fishing/boating, hunting, finding treasures at auctions, and spending time outdoors. He had a love for trivia and games (and was a whiz at Jeopardy!), and looked forward to his annual poker tournament with his lifelong friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Herman, mother Lavena, and grandchild Owen Slinker. He is survived by his sisters Patti McCuen and Suse Stout, brother Dennis Fuhrman, brother-in-law Speed Stout, his daughters Erika Slinker, Cassie Turner, Kim Knudson and Tammy Hennings, eight grandchildren, and close friends (who he considered family) Jan, Brad and Taylor Smith.

A burial service will be held on Friday, April 23 at 10 a.m., at Leavenworth National Cemetery at 150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, KS 66048 (COVID restrictions are in place.) A reception/gathering for friends and family will be held following the service at the residence of Brad and Jan Smith.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care.
