SERVICES FOR ARTHUR S. JENSEN WERE MONDAY

Funeral services for Arthur S. Jensen, 81, of Blair, were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 15th at the First Lutheran Church. Mr. Jensen died Friday morning, August 12th, at the Blair Hospital.

Art Jensen is survived by his wife, Caroline, four children and two stepchildren, a brother and a sister. The children are: Mrs. Kenneth (Virginia) Rhoades, Dwayne Jensen, Doris Detjen, all of Blair, and David Jensen of Leader, Minnesota.

Also surviving is one brother, Herman Jensen of Battlecreek, Iowa and a sister, Mabel Jarrell of Nashua, Montana and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Step children are Mrs. Mel (Barb) Clapper of Arlington and Mrs. Vic (Janie) Mengedoht of Hooper and seven step-grandchildren.

Mr. Jensen was born to Jens and Caroline Jensen on October 30, 1906, at Battle Creek, Iowa. He was a farmer in Iowa and came to Nebraska where he farmed in the Rose Hill District in northwestern Washington County.

On December 15, 1928, he married Ellece James in Blair. The couple farmed and had five children to this union. In 1979 the Jensens retired and moved to their home at 1480 Adams street in Blair. A daughter, Ruth, died at an early age. Ellece died on August 23, 1983. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, William, Walt and Jens Jr., all of Battlecreek, Iowa.

Mr. Jensen later married Caroline Kempcke on August 28, 1985. The couple loved music and Art played the violin and accordian with the Early Thompson Hoedowners. The group provided numerous hours of musical enjoyment to persons in retirement homes of the area.

Art was active in the Blair Eagles Club and headed the Rose Hill Cemetery Board as Sexton.

Pallbearers were: Stan Hovendick, David Ruwe, Wes Sprick, Larry Petersen, Bob Rasmussen, David Hovendick, Robert Kuhr and Bob Petersen.

Honorary pallbearers were: Early Thompson, Leonard Laaker, Wally Johnson, Morris Palle, Cliff Larsen and Pern Wood.

The family suggests memorials be given to the Rose Hill Cemetery Association, The First Lutheran Church or the Blair Rescue Squad.

Services were handled by the Campbell Funeral Home with Rev. Jim McBride officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
