Richard L. “Spike” Spiker, 79 years, of Nickerson, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, July 15, 2021. He was born on Oct. 27, 1941, in Fremont, to Leroy and Bernice (Hugleman) Spiker.

Richard resided in several places in Nebraska over the years including Spiker, Blair, Telbasta and Nickerson. He married Helen Rebbe in 1966, they later divorced. He married Anna Foltz in Nickerson on Sept. 25, 1999. Richard was a truck driver, he transported for Monke Bros. Fertilizer, Fontenelle Seeds, Tom Monke Farm, Nebraska, Irrigated Seeds, Nebraska, Iowa Supply and Rasmussen Trucking.

“Spike” is survived by his wife, Anna; sons, Michael (Fran) Spiker of Morse Bluff, Dale Spiker of Hooper; daughters, Brenda Spiker and Shane Ayers of Fremont, Wendy (Brian) Lundry of Fremont; brother, Bill Spiker of Arlington; sisters, Gayle (Doug) Conkling of Herman, Jodeen (Jennings) McCourt of Webster Springs, W. Va.; five grandchildren; Eric, Dustin, Emily Ayers, Jared and Joslyn Spiker; five step-grandchildren, Maddie (Taylor) Jeppesen, Katlyn (Jared) Stork, Peyton Timm, Alek and Kami Timm; three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ron Spiker; grandson, Eric Ayers; and step-daughter, Dianna Timm.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. There will not be a formal service. Burial is at Rose Hill Cemetery in Orum.
