Survived by wife, Sharrie; daughters, Christine and Gabrielle Nielsen; parents, Paul and Carol Nielsen; siblings: Debbie (Bill) Palmer, Brad (Brenda), Dan, Dwight (Elizabeth) Nielsen; many other relatives and friends.

Rodney was a loving son, husband, father, brother and a friend to all who knew him. He found beauty in nature and drew inspiration from it.

He was a beautiful singer and trumpet player. Music was a large part of his life.

Rodney worked with special needs adults and students for close to twenty years before working as a building engineer for OPS (Omaha Public Schools)

Throughout his life, he was a kind, gentle, compassionate man who held deep convictions. He will always be deeply loved.
