A Memorial Graveside Service and Inurnment for Milton Berggren will be held on Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Valley View Cemetery near Genoa with Pastor Mick Goc officiating.

Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honors and the Edward H. Larson American Legion Post # 144 of Genoa.

Milton Elmer Berggren, 86 years of age, of Stamford, passed away on Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, at his home in Stamford. Milton was born on Jan. 29, 1935, in Nance County, near Genoa, the eldest of four sons, born to Elmer Enooh and Edna (Minderup) Berggren. He received his education from a country school through the 8th grade.

On Oct. 22, 1952, Milton enlisted into the United States Navy and was stationed in Virginia. He served aboard the USS Amphion AR-13 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. On Jan. 23, 1956, he was honorably discharged.

On Sept. 5, 1954, Milton was united in marriage to Delores Ann Campain in Columbus. This union was blessed with two daughters: Phyllis and Anita. The family made their home in Washington County for 40 years.

Milton worked as a security guard for the Omaha Public Power District until his retirement. Following retirement, the couple began to make their home in Stamford.

He enjoyed being outdoors, which included fishing, hunting, camping and watching all Husker sports.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores in 2013; and his three brothers: Norman, Charles, and Vernon.

He leaves to celebrate his life his two daughters, Phyllis A. Nelson and her significant other, Don of Mesquite, Nevada and Anita L. Shrum of Brady; five grandchildren, Christopher Seamann, Richard Seamann, Jr., Tyler Nelson, Kyle Shrum, and Kelsey Shrum; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren along with other relatives and many friends.

There will be no memorial book signing, visitation or viewing. The family has chosen cremation.
