From Funeral Leaflet: A celebration of life for Johnnie E. Van Eck will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. held on the family farm that he loved so much. Guests are asked to bring lawn chairs and enjoy celebrating Johnnie's life. Memorials may be made to the family. Johnnie E. Van Eck was born 11 July 1951 to Earl and Mildred (Simmons) Van Eck in Knoxville, Iowa. He grew up in Melcher, graduating with the Class of 1969. In his younger years, Johnnie enjoyed playing the guitar and even played in a band. He met JoAnn Clement, and they were united in marriage on September 4, 1992, in Springfield, Missouri. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Josh, Johnathon, and Jeremy. Johnnie was a veteran of the Army and Air Force. He then made his career at John Deere where he was a painter for 30 years, and a survivor of Woodstock, as well as a member of the John Deere union. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA. Johnnie was always a farmer and in his later years became a Pastor. Johnnie will be greatly missed by his wife, JoAnn; children: Josh (Angie), Johnathon, and Jeremy; grandchildren: Kristen, Jacob, and Earl; siblings: Judy Valentine and Dixie (Boyd) Lambert; mother-in-law, Dorothy Clement; and his dogs: Pip Squeak, Shawnee, Marble, and Bear Bear. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mildred. Note: Johnnie'a ashes were scattered on the farm originally owned by his grandparents, Art and Jessie (Slykhuis) Van Eck. Johnnie had later purchased it and loved living there overlooking the Red Rock Lake.
