Christiansen Rites Conducted Monday in Decatur Church

Harry A. Christiansen, a resident of the Decatur community since 1927, died April 6 at the age of 75 years.

Services were held Monday in the Decatur Methodist Church with the Rev. Francis St. Amant officiating.

Mrs. Betty Huffman and Miss Rita Richards sang with Mrs. Ray Halstead as pianist and Masonic rites were conducted at the church.

Otto Schuler, Ross McCluskey, William Yager, Bernard Connealy, Roland Hightree and Ray Halstead were the pallbearers and burial was in Laurel Hill cemetery in South Omaha.

Mr. Christiansen was born December 28, 1886 in Omaha, as son of Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Christiansen.

In 1914 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Tombrink of Omaha, and they were parents of four children.

He was director of the Whitman-Mullen National Farm Loan Association until 1927 when he sold his ranch at Whitman and moved to Decatur. In 1928 he moved to the farm which had since been his home.

Survivors are his wife and sons and daughters, Robert of Tekamah, Charles of Decatur, Mrs. Anton Lovesky of Bradenton, Fla. And Mrs. Harley Perkins of Omaha.

The Ladies Aid Society and Eastern Star of Decatur served dinner at the church Monday to members of the Christiansen family.

Son of Rasmus J. Christiansen who was born around 1860 in Denmark and Johanna Hansen.

He was recorded on the 1900 census living with his father, listed as Joseph Christiansen, born 1860 in Denmark, and younger sister Martha, born around 1890 in Nebraska. They lived on Fifth Street in Omaha, Nebraska.

A marriage certificate recorded for Harry A. Christiansen and Elizabeth Trumbrinck on December 31, 1914 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Omaha. The record states that Harry, age 28, was the son of R. J. Christiansen and Johanna Hansen. Elizabeth, age 23, was the daughter of Herman Trubrinck and Katie Cizner. Witnesses were Katie Trunbrinck and Mr. Christiansen.

He and Elizabeth lived in Middle Prong District, Cherry County, Nebraska when the 1920 census was taken. Harry worked as a ranchman for the stock ranch industry. He and his wife Elizabeth lived with their two young children Robert H. and Charles W. Christiansen. Harry's widowed father, Rasmus also resided in the household. According to the census record, Rasmus immigrated to the United States in 1880 and became a naturalized citizen in 1909.

He and Elizabeth lived in Decatur, Burt County, Nebraska when the 1930 and 1940 census records were taken. Harry worked as a farmer at that time. They added two more daughters to their family: Harriet M. and Laura E. Christiansen.
