An eighth-grader at Otte Blair Middle School drowned following a medical episode in a residential pool Sunday.

In an email to parents and families, Blair Community Schools Supt. Randy Gilson announced the death of Jett Andreasen, 13.

Teachers, school and grief counselors were available for students on Tuesday.

"Students will have varied reactions to the death of a peer," Gilson wrote. "As always, we will continue to be available to the children if we can assist in any way.

"Please join us in keeping Jett's family in your thoughts during this difficult time."

Capt. Travis Lyon of the Blair Police Department said officers responded to a possible drowning call on Sunday, and the individual was already deceased at the scene.

Further investigation ruled Andreasen had gone into the pool and shortly after he had a medical episode.
