Cenia Eriksen, Pioneer Craig Woman, Dies

Funeral services were held at the Craig Presbyterian church on Tuesday afternoon, June 11, at 2 o’clock for Cenia C. Eriksen, who died Saturday, June 8 in Blair.

Dr. John W. Harbaugh was in charge of the services and burial was in the Craig Cemetery. Leah Rebekah Lodge of Craig conducted graveside services.

Music was by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnson and Mrs. Ronnie Rogers was organist.

Pallbearers were Jim Eriksen, Phillip Eriksen, Kenneth Eriksen, Leonard Eriksen, Theodore Eriksen, Jr. and Donald Eriksen.

Cenia, daughter of Hans Peter and Karoline Eriksen, was born march 9, 1883 near Craig Nebr. and died June 8 1963 at the Blair Hospital.

She attended school at South Argo and had one year at Grandview College, Des Moines, Ia. As a young girl she was confirmed in the Danish Lutheran church.

Miss Eriksen belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary of Craig and was a 50-year member of Leah Rebekah Lodge No. 183. She held the position of Craig librarian for several years.

She loved to travel and in 1950 realized a life’s dream in a trip to Europe and a visit of several weeks with relatives in the original family homes of her parents in Denmark.

Recently Miss Eriksen had made her home at Crowell Home in Blair.

Survivors are three brothers, Christian, Theodore and Henry, all of Craig, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
